Mattress Fiberglass Checker
An informational tool from the Mattress Fiberglass Support and Awareness Group. Search for a mattress brand or model to see reported fiberglass status and current risk information.
⚠️ Important Disclaimer: Please Read Before Using
THIS LIST IS NOT 100% GUARANTEED. Mattress companies can and do change their manufacturing processes and fire-retardant materials without any public announcement. A “No” today could be a “Yes” tomorrow for a new model.
!! CRITICAL DISCLAIMER BEFORE YOU READ !!
“UNKNOWN” is the most common & dangerous category. If a brand is not on this list or is marked “Unknown,” it does NOT mean it's safe. It means we could not find definitive public proof either way. YOU MUST ASSUME IT HAS FIBERGLASS UNLESS THE COMPANY EXPLICITLY STATES OTHERWISE.
ALWAYS VERIFY. Before buying ANY mattress, check the current product page, law tag photo, or contact customer service directly and ask in writing: “Does the fire-retardant sock on this specific mattress model contain fiberglass or silica?” Save the conversation.
⚠️ CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING
Never remove a mattress cover that is labeled non-removable. If the fire-barrier materials are unknown or fiberglass may be present, disturbing the cover could release fibers and create contamination.
Do not use a standard household vacuum on contaminated materials; the exhaust can spread microscopic glass shards throughout the room. Only use a sealed HEPA-rated vacuum system if cleanup is required, and do not wash contaminated clothing in a normal washer.
Always follow the manufacturer's care instructions and verify materials through the law tag or manufacturer documentation before removing any cover.
Search brand, model, or notes to find the latest listed status.

Core-Spun Loophole Inquiry Script
Use this script when contacting customer support to confirm whether the mattress's FR barrier contains encapsulated glass cores, core-spun glass yarn, or other hidden fiberglass components.
View Inquiry Script
Subject: FR Barrier Engineering Inquiry - [Insert Mattress Model/Name Here] Hello, I am looking into purchasing the [Insert Mattress Model/Name Here] and need to confirm the exact engineering of its fire-retardant (FR) barrier for health and safety compliance. Please consult directly with your product production or compliance team to provide a written answer to the following three questions: 1. Does the internal fire-retardant sock, sleeve, knit yarn, or barrier material contain any form of fiberglass, glass fibers, glass wool, silica-coated glass filaments, or core-spun glass yarn (even if the glass is structurally wrapped or encased inside an outer rayon, polyester, or modal sheath)? 2. Is the mattress's flame resistance achieved exclusively through 100% glass-free and non-particulate alternatives (such as pure organic wool, pure thistle pulp/rayon, or modacrylic blends with zero mineral or glass cores)? 3. Under 16 CFR Part 1633, what are the exact material components and percentages listed on the physical registry law tag for the internal fire barrier of this specific model? Please note that generic marketing statements like "contains no raw fiberglass" or "uses safe silica fabrics" do not sufficiently address whether an encapsulated glass core is present. I require a direct confirmation regarding whether core-spun glass fibers are physically inside the mattress layers. Thank you. I look forward to your written response for my records.

Shopping Tips
Look for Natural Fire Barriers
The safest mattresses use materials that are naturally flame-resistant. Wool (often GOTS-certified organic) is the gold standard.
Ask Directly
Contact the manufacturer and ask: "Does this mattress contain fiberglass or glass fibers?" Get the answer in writing.
Check the Law Label
Look at the mattress tag for terms like "glass fiber," "glass wool," "fiberglass," or "continuous filament glass yarn." Watch for hidden descriptions like "silica fabric" or "glass-coated fiber" and confirm the exact model in writing.
Watch for Semantic Loopholes
Ask if the fire barrier contains fiberglass, core-spun glass, silica fabric, or glass-coated yarn. Many sellers say "no fiberglass" while still using glass-core materials.
Be Skeptical of Low Prices
Extremely cheap mattresses are more likely to use fiberglass as a cost-cutting measure.
Important Disclaimer
This list is compiled from community reports and may not be comprehensive or fully accurate. Manufacturers may change their materials without notice. Always verify directly with the manufacturer and check the law label on any mattress before purchasing.
